I waited a day then went to the store and bought two starter fish. By the next morning one of the fish died. I flushed it and waited a few more days and then called (I work 13 hour days) to tell about the dead fish. They told me to bring in 8 oz of water for testing. They told me I need another week or two before I could start buying coral. I asked if I could replace the dead fish with the water in its current condition. They sold me another fish and deducted the price of the first fish from the new one. Two days later (yesterday) I noticed that the new fish was covered with white ick all over his mouth and eyes and there were floating mucous tendrils on the live rock. I called and asked Brennan if someone could come and help my tank and he said I had to wait until my already scheduled appointment in two days. I said I was afraid the tank might tank in that time and reminded him of how he said they would maintain it for me. He told me to change out half the water. I asked to speak to the owner and he said he went to L.A. but would be back in half an hour. I asked Brennan to have him call me when he arrived. He said ok. I waited two hours, nobody called and the store was closed when I called at 7:03. The answering machine does not accept messages. Frustrated but hoping to see some professionalism and integrity in the next few days. Oh and the original tank I wanted last week is now for sale. I'm wondering why the owner didn't offer it to me one week earlier.

Edit 5/12/2017: I wanted to like this place but the person who worked there killed our order. He didn't mean it, it was just from not being knowledgable. We ordered shrimp and unfortunately they got put directly in the store's tanks with large agressive cichlids, which promptly ate them before I could pick them up. Would have liked if they called us when our order came in but they mention they want us to wait a day to pick it up so they can make sure that the items don't have issues. To add to it every fish we ordered from them have been sick. Tip, if you get anything from this place put your fish in a quarantine and observe it for 2 weeks minimum or you'll be out money and time. There intentions are good but there lack of knowledge makes it hard to buy from them with confidence. So far fish from petco and petsmart were in better health than this place, which is sad. I expected a lot more from a store run by a "marine biologist." I now order online or drive to Whitey's pet store in Fresno which I had better luck.

I whanted to take the time and write a review about Ultimate Aquarium! I have bought several cichlids from Mark and I have not lost one cichlid? They are now having babies and doing great. Every time I have gone into the shop some one was there or Mark waited on me from the time I walked in? Great aquarium store! Shop with confidence! Thanks Mike!

I wanted a reef tank but don't have time to maintain one so I called and asked if I could pay them to maintain it. Brennan said sure, that they charge 50 dollars an hour and my 10 gallon tank would require 30 minutes per month. So I went the next day and paid in full for a tank like one on display. They said they would set it up on Friday. I was very happy until Thursday evening when the owner called and said they could not get the tank I bought for two weeks. They sold me something they didnt have to sell. I was disappointed but I really wanted to start my tank so I agreed to take another one the next morning at 10. At 10:20 the next morning Brennan called and said he was on his way if I still wanted him to come.

I hope they can get a little bit more knowledge under there belt and take in there orders properly in the future to avoid such experiences.

I've been coming to Ultimate Aquarium for years. Nobody in the Valley does it better. Mark, and all the staff, are super knowledgeable. He'll you the truth - he's not just trying to sell you something. He stocks the best fish from the big suppliers in LA. He knows his stuff and stocks the best fish and corals you could ask for!

I said of course and told him I'd been waiting outside for 20 minutes. He arrived 20 minutes later. He was friendly and knowledgeable and explained things as he set up the tank. Somehow a sliver of glass broke on the lid and he set it up anyway and didn't offer to replace it. He did tell me yo be careful not to cut myself when moving the lid.

Ive been a long time customer of 18 years and will continue to be a proud patron of this professional establishment.
